Located in a building constructed in 1878, the Brasserie Vagenende did not always bear this name. In the shop on the ground floor, taken over in 1904, the brothers Edouard and Camille Chartier, founders of a chain of "Bouillons", set up one of the popular restaurants that made their reputation and their fortune at the time. They took particular care with the décor, giving it all the charm and luxury of the Belle Epoque: bevelled mirrors, which reflect endlessly, framed by woodwork in a pure "noodle" style of curves and arabesques.
